At Regions, the Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and approving/denying loan applications in a timely manner according to investor guidelines.
•Review file for data integrity to certify accuracy of Automated Underwriting findings
•Review the underwriting conditions and re-run the Automated Underwriting, if applicable
•Compare file submitted to program guidelines thus making sure Loan-to-value, FICO, Debt-to-income, etc. complies with guidelines
•Check the appraisal for accuracy and completeness
•Make sure the appraisal meets investor guidelines and supports value
•Communicate underwriting decision and explain reasons for conditions in the Empower system
This position is incentive eligible.
This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime under the non-exempt FLSA classification for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.
•High school diploma or GED
•Three years of underwriting or credit review
•Knowledge of agency and investor guidelines and regulations
•Knowledge of sales contracts, applications and loan appraisals
•Good problem solving skills
•Good organization and communication skills
•Ability to meet timelines
•DE(FHA) and LAPP (VA) designations
