Job Description:

At Regions, the Database Administrator analyzes, designs, creates and implements databases, including access methods, device allocations, validating checks, organization and security.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design of data models and physical databases, data dictionaries and schemas

  • Installs, upgrades and tests database software

  • Assists in the development of database recovery plans and procedures

  • Troubleshoots database issues

  • Monitors database environment

  • Develops a knowledge of the operational database and data structure

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or completion of a technical training program in software development programming language

  • Three years business experience

Preferences

  • Understanding of relational database model and solid theoretical knowledge of relational database techniques

  • Skilled in monitoring and tuning a database, effective presentation of technical information to audiences

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently within a team environment

This position is a part of the Marketing team at Regions Bank consisting of a group of talented and hardworking individuals. The position is responsible, but not limited to the following:

  • Linux/Unix Administration

  • Design and development of new marketing databases, data extractions, performance monitoring, tuning, etc.

  • SQL Database architecture, coding and administration

Technology experience:

  • MS SQL DB administration and development

  • Linux/Unix administration

  • SAS development and administration (a plus)

  • Informatica experience (a plus)
